it’s a cape, it’s a scarf

I’m not quite sure how to define this black and taupe piece draped over my shoulders. Is it a cape? Is it a scarf? Did I actually buy a misshapen blanket, but, as I do sometimes, just wear it however the hell I wanted to? I bought it thrifted, and came with no tags to indicate where it came from or what it was made out of.

That’s the beauty of thrifting; every piece of clothing has a story of where it came from and I can only guess how the previous owner may have styled it. I chose to layer it with an Aldo fur-trimmed scarf and thigh-high boots, and topped it off with a wide-brimmed hat. The previous owner may have used it as a picnic blanket for a summer BBQ for all I know. It will remain a mystery forever. And, maybe it’s better that way!
