You know that unmistakable chill in the air you feel after Labour Day long weekend that saps you of all warm and fuzzy summer feelings and that forces you to the harsh reality that winter is coming? I call that the “Christmas feeling”. Where I live, it happens around the end of August and the beginning of September, when school starts and Christmas trees start appearing at Costco. Usually, I dread this feeling. It means summer is over and no more beaches, bikes, or barbecues. It means back to the rain and misery of winter.
But this year, I’m welcoming it. I want to layer that feeling in warm knits, leather jackets, infinity scarves, and beanies. I want to skip to Starbucks in these leather booties and an all-black outfit to get that vastly over-hyped Pumpkin Spice Latte. September always meant new beginnings for me; this year, there’s not really anything substantial going on in my life that marks September as a new beginning, but nevertheless, there are a ton of things to look forward to (including some really exciting collaborations!).
I don’t think there’s anything more that screams “FALL” more than my outfit here. I’m wearing pointed cut-out Zara booties, bought at Bleed for Fashion’s sale, a Dynamite jacket, thrifted black sleeveless BEBE top, maroon H&M pants, scored at Vancouver’s Largest Clothing Swap, and my trusty ol’ Aldo structured tote.
tweed pleather jacket, dynamite, $17.99
BEBE top, thrifted at Value Village, $4.99
H&M skinnies, swapped at clothing swap
structured tote, aldo shoes, $54.99
cutout boots, ZARA, $10
